I was scrolling through a Facebook group recently, and someone asked: “Do you ever have a hard time keeping the faith for your business to succeed? If so, how do you combat that?”
As a Christian, my faith and business go hand-in-hand. There’s no separation of the two. And it’s not uncommon to question our calling. Yes, your business is your ministry. You can love what you do, be good at it, and still serve.
When I feel my faith is running low, or begin to question the direction of my business, here’s what I do.
Pray
Prayer sets the tone for the day. When I pray, I’m not just talking, but listening. I ask God to go before me and give me direction for the day. What does He want me to say? Who do I call? When writing an email, I pray for guidance. Before I get on a sales call – or even begin working on a project – I pray over it. This is very much a part of my business strategy.
I Put Legs on My Faith!
Show up – whatever that looks like for you. It may be sending an email, working on your business plan, or asking for help and delegating so that you’ll have the capacity to serve. It’s easy to ask God to send customers your way – but meet Him halfway. What better way to prepare for your harvest season than by doing what you can now, so you’ll be ready for your blessing! Remember, “Faith without works is dead.” (James 2:17).
Check Your Circle
I surround myself with like-minded Christian entrepreneurs…my circle is full of believers who have a heart of Christ! Even when bringing people on my team it’s important to have someone who understands exactly how deeply connected my faith is to my business. It’s great to have someone you can pray together with…there’s just something about believers coming together, even in business.
Speak the Word
Yes, I talk to myself! Give yourself a pep talk. One of my favorite scriptures is Romans 8:1: “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” I’ve always struggled with feeling unworthy of God’s blessings, and I don’t take lightly what He’s giving me stewardship over – my finances, my business, my health, and even as a caregiver to an older parent. Reciting scripture feeds my soul and encourages me…and not only will you hear it, but the enemy will too!
God wouldn’t give us these skills and abilities if He didn’t want us to share them. No more hiding in obscurity…time to walk in your calling, even in your business. Gifts were meant to be given!
